Before he was the king of Heartland rock and known for very nostalgic lyrics, he was making some real good stuff. This is the best Vietnam song I’ve ever heard, which is noteworthy as anti-war songs aren’t usually my thing (I prefer to focus on more personal lyrics about depression and such).
Probably the heaviest song he ever made. He should have made more!

I wish it were still in print. I’d love to have a copy or two- one for the radio in the garage, and another for when I’m in something without bluetooth or aux cords.

Turn the Page was also before the nostalgia really hit him. I always thought it was strange for him to be singing about the old days in the mid-70s. He was what? 30? 35? Too young for all that nostalgia! Boomers.

Night Moves was 1976, right? He was 31. Eh, I’m 20 and reminisce about high school already so I’ll give him a pass given he was talking about 1962 when he was 17.
